Hello I thought I would finally join up and introduce myself. I am 32 and hubby is 38. We decided to adopt at the end of November 2013 and put our information forward in early December 2013. We are now waiting for an invite to the information session which we were told could be around march this year. How long (roughly) does it take from the information session to accreditation? I've also been told that age is on my side is this true? And how long can it take to be placed with a child? We are going through local infant adoption in Victoria.
Thank you in advance

Hi Teenytot and welcome DH and I were approved Dec 2013. We did the info session in Nov 2011 and then the application in Dec 2011 - so around 2 years for us - and we were super fast at getting everything back to them! Most people I have spoken to say 18 months is fast, 2 years about normal. It's not quick!! I don't know about age being on your side ... I am 33 and DH is 36. And the social worker says that whilst we might be a little more 'relatable' for a younger mother, it doesn't mean all the much. But who knows right! As for placement, no one can give you an answer on that. I have heard of people that get placement that month, others take a few months and it's 2 years that you can stay on the list. Good luck to you!
