Hi all
I am hopefully attending the ed sessions for permanent care (Vic) soon. I did the info session earlier this year. I am single applicant.
Excited to have stumbled across this forum. Through other forums I have met some other single women who are parents through PC and I love learning as much as I possibly can about the process from everyone who has been through it, or going through it, just to fuel the anxiety even more ;D
Please say hello and I look forward to learning from you all.
Cheers, J

Hey there and welcome!
Most of the women here are from Vic so I'm sure you'll find the info helpful.

Hi nevermind and welcome. We are also waiting for a PC placement so feel free to ask any questions, there are a few of us here.
There was a user on this group called samnangmeh who was a potential single PC parent as well, it might be worthwhile getting in touch with her and reading through her old posts.
She hasn't been around here for a while but I do know that she posts on other parenting websites under the same user name and is lovely.

Great, thank you! I did actually have a question pop into my mind, now you mention it The three referees required for the applications process - I read somewhere that 2 had to be family and 1 non-family. Was that the case for you? I have a teeny tiny family, so I'd rather flip it, but will obviously do whatever is required. Cheers, J

Hi Nevermind, When we did our Local adoption stuff, we used 2 friends and one family for both of us. So it may work??

It may be different in NSW but we didn't use any family - I used 2/3 friends that had children. I felt that my friends were better referees lol, also, wanted people who had kids and no-one in my family had children yet.

Hi Nevermind
We have 2 Permanent Care daughters (7 and 8). They came to us in January 2009 and the Permanent Care Order was made by the Children's Court in July 2010.
I remember there was another single lady applicant in our training sessions.
Best of luck with the process. My wife and I have been through a huge change from starting with the information session for adoption in January 2006. I feel I could fill a book with our experiences!
I am also a lawyer and am familiar with the technical legal side of Permanent Care.
I am happy to answer any questions you have.
regards Emster

I just thought I'd update this with the answer to my own question As a single applicant I was required to provide 3 referees. 1 family and 2 non-family!
