We don't have access visits but we talk a lot about DD's birth mum. We either call her by her christian name or simply, "your birth mum". We try to keep it as simple as we can. Our social worker suggested the term "tummy mummy" but every time DH and I tried to practice it on each other we collasped into fits of laughter, so we shelfed that pretty quickly.

We were thinking biomum/dad but it does sound a bit like something from a sci-fi movie lol

This actually sounds like a good way of doing this, but yes your right you need to find out how the birth mum feels about it. It could be great but it could be a bit funny for her as well. If possible will you be able to explain your thinking behind this idea to her?
I'm called Aunty by my best friend to her son - my best friend is from the Philippines - I love being called this.
Chookie (the two CL's are confusing me LOL!) I'm actually about to go off and start a new job next week - you might actually love looking at their website - it's to do with early childhood services and families and children that are from CALD backgrounds. I'll PM you the link. They have fantastic resources
