DO you know what I find is really bizarre? We have over 100 members in this forum minus a few ( let's say 80), and in this year 2010, no signs of any baby, or child being placed either in adoption or permanent care. Lots of people being assessed but no success for anyone. I am sure if there were any placement, they would let us know. That is just too good news to keep under you hat.
So what does that tell us people?
Waiting.

We got called in for a touch base meeting a month or so ago and they told us there has been very few babies this year and that the birth mother of the only placement since our approval in May, had a very specific request. The SW from that region asked about us, but we didn't have what was wanted to be considered. My guess is she asked for siblings. My heart did skip a beat when I had a message on my voicemail from our SW 2 days before Christmas........ but she was just calling to wish us a Merry Christmas! Fingers crossed for more placements in 2011

Hi Girls,
Waiting - I understand what you are saying but I think that there would be a very small amount of us members that are still active in the process and that not everyone is on here. I am just guessing that most of the limited placements have gone to familes not on the forum.. Hang in there
Lilchookie - It is great that you had a touch base meeting, at least you know they are thinking about you.
Cheers,
L

The thing is that there are a lot of members that have never actually posted. So I doubt that there is actually even 30 members that have even gone through the process of assessment.
If you have concerns over this please let myself or Flossy know how you would like to handle this - keeping in mind that some people join just to get a taste of the idea or others just like to read what others are doing before deciding on this path or not. (Keeping in mind that there maybe members that never actually come back to the site.).
I am sure flossy would be open to suggestions about how you want to handle memberships.

Lilchookie, yes I can imagine that your heart did skip the beat. I think it is really nice of your SW to wish you a wonderful Christmas- very thoughtful.
Goggly regarding the regular posters, yes there are only just a few which is a shame, but I think with all the lurkers out there, I am sure they would post if they were successful.
Also hoping for a different 2011. Best of luck for the future.

Yes at any time there are only a handful active posters, it varies. Yes I could either write an email to all to either post or be deleted or start deleting people right away, but from a marketing perspective I think a forum with 100 members looks more attractive than one with 10 for new people to actively join and contribute. Hopefully some of you will get the best news in 2011. For me my year at home is over and next week I am going back to work 3 days/week, not exctly looking forward to it apart from the paycheck!

Flossy, I found the thought was worse than the actual work. It did take me a good few months to get in the swing of it and work out the balance between work and home.
It is all good now and I am grateful for my job at least a few times a week, firstly because I like it and second because three times a week I get to finish a conversation and eat my lunch uninterrupted!

You've got a point there Goggly, with eating lunch uninterupted. We will see, but it will take some time to get into te working mode again.
