Hi
I have been lurking about here for a while to see if there was anyone in the same boat. I have a biological child and an adopted child from Ethiopia and we are now looking at doing PC here in Vic as we have aged out of ICA. This will be done through Anglicare. Just wondering if there were any other people out there who have already been through an adoption and have then began the PC journey. We are trying to work out what paperwork is necessary as we have done quite a bit of it already for the adoption (our son has been home two years now, he is six years old) We've already done the education sessions for PC as we only had to do a small portion on access. Anyway just thought I'd say hi, happy to answer any questions people have regarding ICA, for those interested our journey took 4 and 1/2 years from expression of interest to pick up.
Cheers Glenda

Hi Glenda,
You definitely bring a new perspective to this forum. We do have several members who have either adopted or a child in permanent care and I believe one member is going in for a second time, but I am not sure if we have had anybody who has done one and is now going for the other. Variety is great in this forum, we would like to give support and be a meeting place for everyone in the "out of care game".
Please keep us posted!
I am not sure if they will let you resit the pc sessions again, but from what I have heard you will have to write a new life story and fill in a new application together with new/old references etc. They will also get school and behavioral records from your child who is now a big factor in the new "equation".
Cheers

Welcome and all the best with your PC application Our situation has some similarities but is a bit different. We have one biological child and one permanent care child and we are currently considering an application for local adoption but haven't got to the paperwork stage yet (we are currently having IVF so we can't start the paperwork until next year at the earliest). Anyway I look forward to chatting to you on the boards.
