Hi all, I have just joined tonight (the moment I was told about you guys). I am 36 years old, and have been tcc for 6 years, through AI and lots of IVF. I have unexplained infertility, but after having 18 healthy looking embryos transferred (not all at once , I stopped IVF in Feb 2006. We have been ticking along in the background with Permanent Care, but took a major gamble/ adventure, and agreed to foster a baby in the meantime. Baby Freddie arrived in Nov 2006, and was only 2 months old, - we jumped at the chance, and turned our lives upside down. 7 months later, and he is still in our care - we enjoy every minute of it, knowing that it might not last. If he is still with us in Nov, he will probably be permanently placed with us. We hope to add to our family through a future foster baby or Permanent Care placement in the next year or two. We live in Victoria, and the laws have recently changed, so that all babies need Permanent Care planning to start once they have been in foster care for 12 months (cumulative). This means that lots more foster babies in Victoria will be needing Permanent care families...

Hi Keri, I so hope for you that your little one can stay with you forever and I admire you for becoming a foster parent. I would be too afraid they would take the child from me again.
Your words in gods ears that they will need a lot more pc parents, in our region Melbourne West strangely enough they seem to have no movement in the pc sector at the moment, but it may be because the department is not dome with its restructure yet and in a couple of months there will suddenly be lots of kids and no parents.
What region are you in?
Cheers and welcome

Hi Keri
23 years ago my family fostered a 5 month old little girl. She is still part of our family today and was formally adopted last year. We did both long term and short term fostering when i was growing up.
Best wishes for you guys in keeping your little one.
Kate
