Hi,
Hubby and I have been trying to become parents for 7 years. We had seven IVFs in Germany (I am German, hubby is British and now naturalized "Possy" ;D). Result was I reacted poorly to the meds, basically no eggs. And egg donation is illegal in Germany.
Then we immigrated to Australia in 2003 (not because of infertility, but was a good side effect that egg donation is legal here) - we live in Werribee, western suburbs of Melbourne. We found 2 lovely donors (still good friends) and one anonymous donor from a hospital waiting list (after 3 years waiting period), but the only sorry result was 3 miscarriages after 4 Donor IVFs.
Finally mid of last year I was diagnosed with autoimmune problems by a Sydney specialist, NK killer cells which attack embryos, was put on a lot of drugs in addition to the hormones. Unfortunately I did not even get pregnant in 3 Donor IVF goes and my health worsened and I gained 10kg in 2 weeks from the steroids. So DH and I set ourselves a limit of end of 2006 and stuck by it.
Have meanwhile worked hard to get my health back by doing a diet with a naturopath, have lost 11 kg so far and feel a lot better, hard work but it is worth it.
We are now in the process of doing the application for permanent care with Anglicare in Yarraville (DH is still at his lifestory, question 8 from 18 - got to push him a little) But we still have time to get the application in as we can not be assessed until June due to a 6 months waiting period after last IVF. We hope to be getting into the June adoption education seminars and then lodge an application for this as well though we probably have more chances with permanent care due to lack of children to adopt and our age. We would like one or two children as young as possible under the age of 3, which of course limits possibilities as well.
I just want to be "a normal mum with normal kids"
