It's been quiet around here lately. I know lots of you log in all the time looking for any bit of information you can get, I know I did! So I thought I would start a question thread. Feel free to ask any question you like about any part of the process. Those of us that have been placed will be more than happy to answer and if we are not happy to discuss in the public forum we'll let you know.

It has been rather quiet. I, myself have been very busy with work, which helps keep my mind busy!
When you where approved lilchookie, how often did you contact your SW for updates or touch base. Anyone in NSW? How often did you contact your SW. Did you contact by phone or email.

Hi Manni, if I did not hear from them, I would send a touch base email to our SW every 2 months : )

hi there! We have been called by our SW's that they want to catch up and have a chat with us (keep in mind we've already been approved) - however we're a little baffled because it wasnt even a month after approval that they wanted to come and see us...we had to postpone for a few weeks due to work committments but of course we'll meet with them - but is it normal for SW's to want to "catch up" to see how we're doing with the process so quickly after approval?? We were just a tad confused (what with resource shortages in the DHS etc etc) - I can understand the need for a catch up 6 months or so down the track but hmmm...maybe Im reading too much into it...and when I asked one of our SW's the purpose of the meeting she literally said it was a "catch up"... :-) Any thoughts? x

Gosia, We did not have any meetings with any SW straight after the approval, especially not wanting to come and see us. I guess it is not really that urgent at this point since it has been a few weeks and you haven't had a chance to catch up. Maybe there is a child coming up and because of your criteria, you cannot be included and they are wanting to find out if you want to change them? That is the only thing I can think of. Best of luck, and I am sure it is nothing to worry about. Thanks for your kind words..... Waiting.

It is not that strange for a catch up at this stage. We had one about 2 months after approval. It was to see how we were feeling after the whole approval process, where our heads were at kind of thing. It could be what Waiting has suggested above. But I would have thought they would have pressed you to meet sooner if it was about a placement. Nearly a month is a really long time in the life of an infant < 12 months. Keep us posted!
