We've just bought a matress and bedding for the cot weve had for a while. I think it looks great and wanted to share it with you all Here's hoping my 2nd interview Thursday goes well. I know we are not likely to be approved for another couple of months but I cant help being a little excited by this Kay

Kay, I know you are a little ahead of yourself but you are very young and most likely to be chosen ahead of someone our age. So why not enjoy it.... Waiting.

Oh Kay, I was you! I got a giggle out of your post. When we first got approved I went out and bought a pram. DH thought I was nuts and refused to be involved in the purchase, but until I had that pram sitting in the spare room it didn't seem like it would be a possible thing, it made it more real somehow.
Lucky we had it as when we were placed we were flat out getting everything else and the pram purchase (testing, colour selection, fold mechanism check) would have taken ages and probably resulted in divorce in our stressed out, blissed out state!

Thanks girls,
Sadly I am much further ahead than this picture would show. During my IVF days I was an eternal optimist and would buy little things. Also my sister is starting to clean up the baby stuff from my nephew so have just had a baby monitor, high chair and porta-cot brought over. We actually have most of the nursery set up with toys, books, drawers etc... like I said in the title, I know we shouldnt be this organised, but...
Anyway, when I went to the baby shop to buy the pillow, I was having a little chat to the sales girl. When I told her we were adopting she gushed and then said "oh, where from?". She was very surprised when I said from Victoria..
So anyway - we have vowed not to buy anything else until we are approved. We have a pool room complete with bar which we are going to convert into a 2nd lounge/playroom once we have the approval.
Thanks for not thinking me TOO crazy

When we got approved "Kay", we went to baby buntings and had a look for basics. We looked for a pram, a baby seat ( because my friend said just go and buy it - it is easier than dealing with the council) and a bed. That was over 14 months ago and I am sure the one we chose is no longer there.
We also decided to make one of our rooms a baby room and put all the toys and books, no clothes, and a single bed in there to be used as a baby room one day or as a guest room. I have tried to make it a dual purpose room. It doesn't look like a baby room, but it can probably with a few bits and pieces become one very quickly....
Waiting.

Hello we're just beginning the process and was wondering how "baby proof/ready" your house needs to be and at what stage? Lovely room you've set up. Sorry for hijacking your thread a bit

Hi Cluckylollie,
From my understanding you dont need to be too organised. In a meeting with me SW last week she laughed about our plans to convert our very adult rumpus room (with stocked bar in easy reach of children and a pool table) into a toy room/kids lounge. From what I understand, when she comes out to do the home visit (hopefully next month) she will give us a list of what we need to do.
I does help that my sister is 'gifting' a lot to me at the moment as her son is almost 3.
We plan on finishing up the structural things after we are approved and minor things ie: locks on kitchen cupboards after we are placed.
Cheers,
Kay
