Hi Everyone,
DH and I are currently planning a trip to New Zealand next Sepember for the Rugby World Cup...
I am suffering a dilemma... we are going to get the best prices on flights etc... now, but I just dont know whether to risk losing it all.
Has anyone else made long term plans??
Thanks
L

Go on your trip. You have no idea when this baby will come. Don't plan your life around a maybe that may come in Sept.
I have heard of them holding off until you come back. Plan your holiday, enjoy it, the baby will be right here waiting for you if they have planned it to be with you. They will wait, because it is going to be your baby, and it is meant to be with you. Waiting a few more weeks with the foster carers will be fine.
Plan your trip and look forward to it. Waiting.

We are currently in the process of planning a trip to Thailand next July. We are going with a group of friends and meeting some other friends as they return from Europe.
I am not going to book until 3 months before so if we pull out we don't lose money. But if I book in April and we get placed after that, oh well I don't think about be too stressed about losing a couple of thousand dollars when I will finally have what I have wanted fo so long.
You can't put your life on hold for things process, you have to keep on living too.
I have already pulled out of planning another trip because of what may happen. I have gotten over that now. Once you wait for a bit on the approved list you start to get more perspective about things.

It may be worth waiting until closer to the time to book you tickets. It's a long way between now and next september and prices wont go up or down that much to NZ.
You never know what will happen, but I certainly wouldn't put it off, you need to keep living your life and all that, as hard as it is to do!
We were away when we were placed, as soon as we got the call we couldn't get home fast enough!

Just go and don't give the tickets to someone else! THey will wait for you Louise and then you will have a life time with the new baby. Don't worry. Stop changing plans. Get on with your life as you know it. The baby when it comes will fit into your life. Waiting

Waiting, the issue is not the placement while they are there - if they get placed a few months beforehand they wont be able to take the baby - one of them will have to say home.

Googly,
thats right.. DH will still go with a good friend from work, who is one of our references and likely god-father ...
We are going to go ahead an book early November, but from experiences I have heard it is unlikely to happen before then
Thanks for the support waiting
Cheers,
Louise

Hi Louise,
Definitely go ahead with your trip - the Agencies work around PC's travel plans - also some people wait years or are never placed even though they pass the panel. We had to wait over 2 months after the link was made so that one of the children could finish the term before moving to a new school so it doesn't mean that things will move at high speed when you are offered a placement.
Best wishes pippie
