Hi everyone, We are looking into PC and I was looking for some information about the difference between going through Centacare and DHS. Is there any difference? I look forward to chatting with you all Suz

Hi Suz,
Welcome to the forum.
Judging by waiting times and experiences several members of this forum have had in the past it seems that Centacare is faster than most of the DHS regional agencies. One of the main reasons for this is probably staffing and funding levels, maybe also more streamlined processes, if they are better or worse than the DHS agencies I cannot judge, they seem to be different.
On the other hand Centacare does not have its own pc children, only adoptive children, so has to revert to children available in the DHS regions. So Centacare social workers have to be more proactive in finding pc children for their applicants than the regional agencies who tend to try to place children in the region with potential parents in the region if they match.
You probably cannot generalise things as it very much depends on parent profile, social workers, agency work load at the time and availability of children at the time and a lot of luck.
Hope this helps The best way is probably to have a chat to both Centacare as well as your local DHS agency.

Hi Flossyinoz,
We have decided to go to the education with DHS in out region. They have the training on weekends, so it will be easier for us, although the duty worker from Centacare was so sweet. Thanks for your help!
