Have you started doing a nursery up for your baby / child or are you planning on waiting until you get approval? As our journey has been a very long one, we already have our nursery set up. Of course we havea number of friends and family members with children, so we wanted to set up a room anyway that the babies could be put in and that children could play in. So it was actually set up for our friends and family and really for us, as we may never be parents, so it was better to set it up for visitors. The walls are pink and blue, so it goes one pink wall, one blue wall, one pink wall, one blue wall. We have a border down the bottom of the walls which is of ducklings in a pond with frogs, fish, dragonflys and lilly pads / grass. We already have prams, a cot that converts to a first bed for a toddler, we have a mobile for the cot, a bouncer, a swing with music, a lot of clothes in sizes from newborn up to size 2. We also have a load of toys, mostly dolls. Now having a nursery set up already isnt for everyone and as I said we did ours mainly s that visitors could use it for their children. It can be very upsetting to have baby stuff only to feel that you will never actually use it, so some people feel its better not to get stuff and I think that as everyone of us handles things differently there is no right or wrong way to deal with getting baby stuff or starting a nursery or not. It would be great to hear from everyone as to what you personally think about having a nursery set up, would you do it before or after you were approved?

I haven't made a start yet. But I have all of Andrei's old baby stuff and I have curtains (May Gibbs ones) to put up. I will also put my old pink princess canopy bed in the room, if I am allocated a girl who is a toddler +. If not, I also have a cot. You have inspired me to get motivated and pretty up the room.

I guess for us it depends on just how long it takes us - and whether we have any more children between now and adopting. If our 4th is our last until we adopt, then ocne we get approval I think I'll go all out and do up a whole "nursery" - it will help to pass the time! We've never had a "nursery" really - and usually have the little ones in our bedroom most of the time on the early years anyway. But doing a nursery sounds like fun! And if it's a long time between our youngest now and our adoption, then we'll need all new stuff.
If, however, we have more bio kids between now and the adoption, I think we'd prrobaly have enough stuff to use anyway. Any further children we have will be sharing a room with a sibling - unless we renovate and extend - so while we may make over the room to make it fresh, it will already cntain a lot of the stuff needed for a baby/toddler.
But I'm liking this nursery idea more and more - sounds like a great excuse to go shopping!I'm thinking a ladybug/garden type theme might be fun........

Our nursery isnt completely finished yet, as there are still a couple of bits to still do but its just about finished. Once we've done a little bit more to it, I'll take a photo and post it here. Maybe others can post photos of their nursery / baby room as well when they are ready.

Gosh Kim you are organised.
We never started on a nursery during IVF as we knew it could go wrong and how it would hurt to have baby stuff then.
And now as we do not know if we will have a baby or a toddler we will wait. But we have the choice of two rooms, one close to our bedroom which has white furniture in it and with a bit of decoration this would be perfect for any child or one at the end of the house currently used as guest room for an older child, would have to add a bit of furniture or rearrange - so really not so much to do, we will play it by ear. and I am sure friends and my sister in law would help us put with toys or other things initially if it was very sudden.

There is still a little bit to do with the nursery, we still have to put a border at the top of the walls and some stuff on the walls such as pictures or stickers. Once we get those bits I think the nursery should be complete

Kim, your room looks lovely. I have been reading your story and trying to catch up with it all and I am wondering waht is going on with you. Are you still in the process of waiting for a baby, or do you have one already and I missed that post.
I have not prepared a room. All we have done is chuck anything that is baby or child related in one room and just make it a guest room. I have bought nothing..... F
