Hello all.. Just wanted to introduce myself & DH quickly... I am a few days shy of 39, DH is a month shy of 38 and we've been married for almost 10 years. We have been through years of infertility treatment, and after deciding to quit that - we have since been to education sessions for both IA & Local Adoption, and attended an information session last year for locacl. DH has approx. 80 questions to go on the life story, and we have 3 genograms outstanding (I am adopted and have been advised to do 2 genograms to cover my birth mothers family as well as my adoptive family) and a current photo of ourselves. I've had a quick read through all the posts, and am astonished at the waits to say the least.... At the information session they advised us that they needed people on the lists! At any rate, we hope to be finished all of our paperwork by Easter, and I guess we'll have to wait for social worker meetings etc. I guess I'm starting to feel that we have left our run too late, but I won't give up hope yet! Here's looking forward to meeting some of you online really soon! Cheers, Donna

Hi Donna
Firstly, happy birthday for a few days time! Here's hoping your husband gets to his 80 questions soon and that you can get everything together to submit by Easter.
In many cases the long waits are associated with the other countries. The paper-chasing for your state requirements is often the quickest part (which isn't exactly quick).
We need more countries to have agreements with Australia!

Hi Donna, Welcome to the forum. Like in international adoption the figures they tell you vary quite a lot from the actual ones. In local adoption the bottle neck is clearly the understaffed and overworked agencies along with probably a heap of bureacracy, that and an influx into the local stream due to the longer getting queue in interantional.
They always say they need people on the list, but I think demand outweighs children availalbe unless you want older children and/or special needs.
But you have made a good start and the life story is just something which you can't hurry and guys are normally not so good in blurbs about their life.
I don't think you have left your run too late, at least age weise you count among the younger people on the list, so that is a big advantage for you guys.
Good luck
