Hi everyone, i am new to this forum, it is great to see that there is a place to chat to people from Victoria. well a little about me. Hubby and i have been approved now for exactly 12 months and nothing has happened, not to say that it has not been frustrating. i keep in touch with the social worker and she keeps saying, nothing yet. they are two words i dont want to hear. we have been approved for both infant adoption and permanent care. At times i have to say that we both get so down we have considered pulling the plug and just be the two of us. To tell you the truth, thats how we are feeling right about now. i am feeling that the 2 years of hell to get approved was all a big waste of time.
Sorry everyone for being such a downer, but i am feeling really really down because i feel like we are being overlooked. and feeling down because people around me are having children.

Hi Doris,
First welcome to the forum, we are glad to have another member to chat with, especially someone already in the approved and waiting stage.
Now I'm really sorry to hear that you are feeling so down, although I can understand that as at times I get that way myself.
Here is a (((((((((HUG))))))))) to hopefully cheer you up a little.
Kindest Regards, Kim

Thanks for that Kim. it does make a big difference talking to people in the same boat. We are meeting with our social worker this month to discuss whether to change a few things. thanks for the hug. sometimes it feels like we are the only ones going through this.

HI Doris!
BIG HUG to you! Even though I am doing ICA I feel like you and I are currently paddling up the same stream. We have been approved for a year in dec and it took us about 2 yrs from first phone call to approval.
Our paperwork has been in china since 7/3/07

Hi Doris, Welcome from me as well. Yes I can also understand your frustration. We are equally frustrated and have been waiting for allocation of social workers for 5 months now, not going to happen this year. So you are way ahead of us! And yes more and more people around us are becoming parents the one or other way and we are left behind.
We all feel like this from time to time and I do not think you should quit right now, you have come so far and we recently had a member of this forum who had been on the list for a year or so and then the next news was that they had been linked with a little girl. So it does happen. May I ask what you would want to change as you are mentioning, can you change something?
Anyway hugs also from my side

Hi Flossy
At the moment we have been approved for infant adoption and permanent care, the age group for permant care is birth to 3 years old. My husband and i have been talking about it for a while and are thinking of changing the permant care to 5 years and we have said yes to specail needs children as well and we need to talk about it on the 23rd November what changes we want on our list. i do vent time and time again about pulling the plug, but then we think of what we had to go through. it is very nice to talk to people that are in the same boat.
thanks Doris

Hi Doris, Interesting - we were considering the same age bracket for pc. What did your social worker tell you about what happened in the last 12 months. Are there still not any kids in the PC system though they have been talking there would be an influx this year which still does not seem to have ocurred due to change of legislation. Of course this is all statistical data but would nevertheless very much interest me. Good luck

Hi Flossy
They have not said to much to us during the 12 months only that there have been no matches. (a little hard to believe), but i will know more once we have a meeting with our social worker. Can i ask what agency are you with? I am with Connections.

Hi Doris, We are with Anglicare Yarraville in the West. They have been friendly so far, but very slow and by now everybody we knew from the seminars has left. Now I have a name, but not a face to question the end of next month how things are going, but once again we have not even been assessed yet, we are still waiting after 5 months just for allocation of social workers. so it will be at least another 6-9 months I assume until we even are on the list and that is frustrating to say at the least as we will both be turning 45 next year, so adoption would be a miracle and pc I don't know, depends if we fit their matching criteria whatever they may be.
